Springfield Electric Supply Company has been the southeast commercial cornerstone of the Enos Park neighborhood since the mid-1950s. However the roots of the company go as far back as 1919 and William R. Schnirring, Sr. who started as an electrician but soon established a retail outlet for lighting fixtures and electrical contracting. Today, in addition to its headquarters in Springfield, there are twelve other stores throughout Illinois, three of them, Springfield, Champaign, and Bloomington, have their own lighting showrooms.
Springfield Electric Supply Company has been a good neighbor to the Enos Park neighborhood. They have enhanced the landscaping along North 9th Street and received the 1st Place Award from Springfield in Bloom for their Business Garden Makeover. They were also a major sponsor of the 2010 Enos Park Historic Homes Tour which featured Abraham Lincoln.
